At the northernmost point in North Zealand, you will find beautiful Gilleleje.
A thing that is special for the small fishermen's village, is the summer spirit and athmosphere you will experience during the summer. The wonderful beach, beautiful boats by the habor and fresh fish from the local seafood shop is the definition of Gilleleje.
Along the coast by Kattegat, you will find Gilleleje’s coveted beach. It is covered with the finest sand and offers a beautiful view of Sweden in the horizon.
Here you can enjoy a dip in the sea, relax in the sun and eventually buy some lunch at the family-owned fish house by the harbor. Fiskehuset was established in 1936 and has been run by the Hansen family ever since. It is a high priority for them to be able to offer their customers a valuable and personal service – and for that reason alone, you should choose to stop by the little shop!
Aside from the many possibilities by the water, there are also some treasures hidden further into the city. Besides finding a pedestrian street with both shops and restaurants only a few meters from the harbor, there is a fantastic little ice crème parlor, named Lydolph’s Isbar.
The place has existed for many years and is today owned by Camilla and Mikkel Ali who happily invites you in! The palor is hard to overlook with their retro inspired facade and interior, which really manages to take you back in time. Furthermore, they sell delicious ice cream which is even referred to as being “the biggest ice cream in town”.
Basically, Gilleleje is a holiday village that contributes to relaxation, beautiful nature, great taste experiences and not least, a feeling of going south without even doing it.
